About the Award

The Best Reviewer Award is an annual distinction presented by the International Journal of Emerging Trends in Engineering and Management Research (IJETEMR) to recognize reviewers who have demonstrated exceptional excellence in scholarly peer review.

The award honors individuals whose reviews consistently contribute to maintaining the highest standards of academic quality, research integrity, and editorial excellence through objective, timely, ethical, and constructive evaluations.

The award is based solely on documented reviewer performance and an independent merit-based evaluation process. Selection is not influenced by publication fees, editorial preference, institutional affiliation, or commercial considerations.

Objectives

The Best Reviewer Award aims to:

  • Recognize excellence in peer review.
  • Promote high standards of scholarly publishing.
  • Encourage ethical, objective, and constructive manuscript evaluation.
  • Acknowledge reviewers who significantly contribute to improving research quality.
  • Foster integrity and transparency in the peer-review process.

Award Frequency

  • Presented annually.
  • Normally one (1) recipient each year.
  • Up to two (2) Honorable Mentions may be awarded if warranted.
  • The journal reserves the right not to present the award if no reviewer meets the required standard.

Eligibility

To be eligible, reviewers must:

  • Have completed peer reviews for IJETEMR during the award period.
  • Submit reviews independently and ethically.
  • Maintain reviewer confidentiality.
  • Declare conflicts of interest where applicable.
  • Demonstrate professionalism throughout the review process.

Only reviewers achieving the highest overall evaluation score are recommended for the award.

Performance Indicators

The Award Evaluation Committee may consider:

  • Number of completed reviews.
  • Average review completion time.
  • Quality and usefulness of reviewer comments.
  • Ability to identify methodological strengths and weaknesses.
  • Recommendations supported by sound academic reasoning.
  • Compliance with ethical reviewing practices.
  • Feedback from Associate Editors and Handling Editors.
  • Contribution to improving manuscript quality.

Reviewer recommendations alone (accept/revise/reject) are not used as the primary basis for evaluation.

Selection Process

Stage 1 – Eligibility Verification

The Editorial Office verifies reviewer activity during the award year.

Stage 2 – Independent Assessment

The Award Evaluation Committee evaluates eligible reviewers using the published scoring rubric.

Stage 3 – Scoring and Ranking

Each reviewer is independently scored and ranked.

Stage 4 – Final Approval

The Editor-in-Chief reviews the committee's recommendation, and the Editorial Board approves the final recipient.

The decision is final.

Award Evaluation Committee

The committee consists of senior editors, editorial board members, and subject-matter experts.

Committee members:

  • evaluate independently;
  • maintain confidentiality;
  • disclose conflicts of interest;
  • recuse themselves when a conflict exists; and
  • follow the journal's ethics policies.

IJETEMR publicly publishes:

  • Award objectives.
  • Eligibility requirements.
  • Evaluation criteria.
  • Selection methodology.
  • Conflict-of-interest policy.
  • Award recipients.
  • Award announcement date.

Competitiveness

To demonstrate transparency and selectivity, the journal may publish annual statistics including:

  • Total active reviewers.
  • Number of eligible reviewers.
  • Number of shortlisted reviewers.
  • Number of award recipients.
  • Annual selection rate.

Recognition

Recipients receive:

  • Official Best Reviewer Award Certificate.
  • Digital Award Badge.
  • Recognition on the IJETEMR website.
  • Permanent listing in the IJETEMR Award Archive.
  • Official announcement through the journal's communication channels.

Conflict of Interest Policy

Committee members shall not evaluate reviewers with whom they have:

  • current research collaborations;
  • institutional affiliations;
  • financial interests;
  • supervisory relationships; or
  • any relationship that could reasonably affect impartiality.
