About the Award

The Young Researcher Award is an annual academic distinction presented by the International Journal of Emerging Trends in Engineering and Management Research (IJETEMR) to recognize early-career researchers who have demonstrated exceptional promise, innovation, scholarly excellence, and significant contributions to research within their field.

The award recognizes researchers whose work demonstrates originality, scientific rigor, ethical research practices, and the potential to make a lasting impact on engineering, management, technology, and interdisciplinary research.

The award is granted through an independent, transparent, competitive, and merit-based evaluation process. Selection is based exclusively on documented academic achievements and is not influenced by publication fees, nomination fees, institutional affiliation, or editorial discretion alone.

Award Objectives

The Young Researcher Award aims to:

  • Recognize outstanding early-career researchers.
  • Encourage innovative and high-quality research.
  • Promote excellence in scholarly publishing.
  • Support emerging researchers with exceptional academic potential.
  • Foster ethical research and academic leadership.

Award Frequency

  • Presented annually.
  • Normally one (1) recipient each calendar year.
  • Up to two (2) Honorable Mentions may be awarded in exceptional cases.
  • The journal reserves the right not to present the award if no nominee meets the required standard of excellence.

Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy all of the following requirements:

  • Be an early-career researcher, normally within 10 years of completing their highest research degree (excluding documented career interruptions where applicable).
  • Be actively engaged in research in engineering, management, computer science, technology, or related disciplines.
  • Have published peer-reviewed scholarly work.
  • Demonstrate originality, research integrity, and professional ethics.
  • Have no confirmed findings of research misconduct or publication ethics violations.

A minimum overall evaluation score of 90/100 is generally recommended for award consideration.

Supporting Evidence

The Award Evaluation Committee may consider documented evidence including:

  • Peer-reviewed journal publications.
  • Books and book chapters.
  • Citation metrics from recognized scholarly databases.
  • Research grants and funded projects.
  • Patents or technology transfer.
  • Invited keynote or conference presentations.
  • Editorial board and peer-review contributions.
  • Professional awards and academic honors.

Nomination Process

Nominations may be submitted by:

  • Universities.
  • Research institutions.
  • Professional societies.
  • Editorial Board Members.
  • Previous award recipients.
  • Self-nominations accompanied by complete supporting documentation.

Required documents include:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Publication list.
  • Statement of research achievements.
  • Summary of future research plans.
  • At least two independent recommendation letters.
  • ORCID iD (recommended).
  • Google Scholar, Scopus, or Web of Science profile (if available).

Selection Process

Stage 1 – Eligibility Review

The Editorial Office verifies eligibility requirements and documentation.

Stage 2 – Independent Expert Evaluation

Eligible nominations are reviewed independently by the Award Evaluation Committee using the published evaluation rubric.

Stage 3 – Scoring and Ranking

Each nomination is scored and ranked according to the established evaluation criteria.

Stage 4 – Final Approval

The committee's recommendation is reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and approved by the Editorial Board.

The decision of the Editorial Board is final.

Award Evaluation Committee

The Award Evaluation Committee consists of experienced researchers, senior academics, and subject-matter experts from universities, research institutions, and industry.

Committee members:

  • evaluate nominations independently;
  • maintain confidentiality;
  • disclose actual or potential conflicts of interest; and
  • recuse themselves from evaluating any nominee where a conflict exists.

Conflict of Interest Policy

Any committee member having a professional, institutional, financial, supervisory, or collaborative relationship with a nominee shall disclose the conflict and abstain from participating in the evaluation of that nomination.

Revocation Policy

The journal reserves the right to revoke the award if a recipient is subsequently found to have engaged in:

  • plagiarism;
  • data fabrication or falsification;
  • duplicate publication;
  • unethical research practices; or
  • other serious violations of accepted publication ethics.
