Generative AI-Enabled Enterprise Data Integration in Hybrid Cloud Environments for Secure Knowledge Processing

Abstract

The rapid adoption of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), cloud computing, and distributed enterprise applications has created new opportunities for organizations to integrate heterogeneous data sources and transform them into secure, actionable knowledge. However, enterprise environments increasingly operate across on-premises infrastructure, private clouds, public clouds, edge systems, and third-party platforms, creating significant challenges related to data interoperability, security, governance, privacy, scalability, and regulatory compliance. This study examines a GenAI-enabled enterprise data integration framework designed for hybrid cloud environments, with particular emphasis on secure knowledge processing. The proposed approach combines automated data discovery, semantic integration, retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge representation, identity-aware access control, encryption, data lineage, and continuous monitoring. The research adopts a design-oriented methodology incorporating qualitative analysis, architectural modelling, prototype development, and experimental evaluation. The framework is assessed using measures including integration accuracy, retrieval relevance, response reliability, processing latency, security effectiveness, and resource utilization. Particular attention is given to reducing hallucination risks and preventing unauthorized access to sensitive enterprise information. The study argues that GenAI can enhance enterprise integration by automating schema interpretation, metadata generation, semantic mapping, and knowledge retrieval, provided that these capabilities are supported by strong governance and security controls. The resulting framework offers a structured foundation for secure, scalable, and context-aware knowledge processing across hybrid cloud infrastructures
